Minister approves Antrim campus closure

The Employment and Learning Minister, Stephen Farry, has approved the Northern Regional College's plans to close its Antrim campus.

It will provide courses through its other campuses, local schools and other premises in the area.

The decision was taken after the college submitted a business case setting out its proposals.

The proposed changes will come into effect from the beginning of this academic year.

Mr Farry said the business case submitted by the college "clearly demonstrated the need for rationalisation of further education provision in the Antrim area".

"It also confirmed the unsuitability of the existing premises for the future delivery of modern further education programmes," he added.
