Shots fired at man in car in Park Avenue, east Belfast

A man has escaped injury after a shooting at Park Avenue in east Belfast.

Shortly after 22:30 BST on Wednesday, it was reported a man sitting in his car was approached by a gunman who fired two shots with a handgun at him.

The attacker ran off in the direction of Larkfield Manor. No one was injured during the incident and no damage was caused.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

East Belfast MP Naomi Long said she was shocked by the incident.

"It is deeply disturbing that there has been a report that shots were fired in the Park Avenue area," she said.

"This is a very quiet residential area and whilst details are unclear, people will be extremely shocked to hear about this."
