Two men released on bail after shots fired in Carrickfergus

Two men arrested after a number of shots were allegedly fired in Carrickfergus on Thursday have been released on bail.

Police said they responded to reports of gunfire at the Castlemara Estate.

The suspects were arrested on firearms related offences after armed officers raided two houses.

They have been released on bail pending further enquiries. DUP MLA David Hilditch said he believed it was a "one off incident".

He did not think paramilitaries were not involved.

Police carried out a number of searches in the estate and seized a firearm and ammunition.
