Chickens stolen near Ballymoney found 'mutilated'

Two of 16 chickens stolen from a north Antrim farm at the weekend have been found mutilated, police have confirmed.

The English Game Bantam chickens were taken from farm outhouses at Mullan Road near Ballymoney over the weekend.

Inspector David Anderson from Ballymoney PSNI said it was "despicable" that two of the chickens were "mutilated", causing their death.

"The mutilation would seem to rule out stealing the chickens for profit," he said.

"It is despicable that people are stealing property during the night but then to inflict that on the chickens only adds to the heinous nature of this incident."
