Pensioner tied up during burglary in County Antrim

An 80-year-old man has been tied up with cable by a gang during an aggravated burglary at a house in County Antrim.

At about 22:40 GMT on Tuesday, it was reported that a group of masked men entered a house in the Calvert Road area, outside Dundrod, and demanded money from the pensioner.

It is believed the man was tied with cable while the property was ransacked.

At this stage, it is unclear if anything was taken during the incident.

The Mayor of Antrim, Paul Michael, condemned the attack.

"It's only a week ago that we had an elderly lady in the borough robbed," he said.

"And now this gentleman, who was sadly tied up and robbed as well, so I would be calling on the police to investigate to see if there is a link between the two.

"It seems very similar. One is one too many, two in a fortnight is scary in itself."
