Security alert in Derry city centre declared a hoax
A security alert in Londonderry city centre has ended.
A suspicious package found in the Victoria car park on Saturday morning was declared a hoax.
Victoria car park, Foyle Embankment and Police Court Street were closed to traffic for two hours while army bomb experts examined the object.
Sinn Fein councillor Mickey Cooper said it caused disturbance hours before a Santa parade was due to take place.
"The people of Derry are sick and tired of having their lives disrupted," he said.
"Traders on the Strand Road are finding it difficult enough to make a living and provide employment for local people without this disruption to business on one of the busiest days of the week and just a few weeks away from Christmas."
