Man arrested over seven hammer raids in counties Antrim and Derry

A 27-year-old man is being questioned about seven armed robberies carried out in the space of two days.

A supermarket on the Greystones Road in Antrim and two chip shops in Ballyclare were robbed on Sunday night.

In the early hours of Monday an attempt was made to rob a hotel restaurant in Newtownabbey.

The following evening a shop in Ballymena was robbed as were two chips shops in Coleraine. A hammer was used to threaten staff in each incident.
