Two injured in explosion at Irish Oxygen plant in Cork

Two people have been injured in an explosion at a gas bottling plant in Cork.

The incident occurred just after 11:00 GMT on Friday at the Irish Oxygen factory in the west of the city.

The plant processes oxygen, nitrogen and propane for the chemical, electronics, swimming pool and agriculture industries.

It is not known how seriously injured the two people were. Houses near the plant have been evacuated.

Emergency services remain at the scene.
