A crash near Claudy in County Londonderry in which a 20-year-old woman died has been referred to the Police Ombudsman for investigation.

The victim, from the Dungiven area, was a passenger in a car which hit a concrete pillar on the Old Glenshane Road at about 0130 GMT on Sunday.

No other vehicles were involved.

The police said they spotted the car being driven dangerously near Feeny earlier that night, and came across the crash after they followed it.

Two men aged 22 were arrested and released on bail.

The police want anyone who noticed a burgundy-coloured Renault Clio between Feeny and Claudy early on Sunday morning to contact them.
