John Minnis estate agents announces three-year sales high

A County Down estate agent has announced its best quarterly sales for the last three years.

John Minnis estate agents has also seen an increase in sales of 8.8% over the last six months, compared to the same period in 2010.

This is despite the latest property surveys predicting that house prices and the number of transactions will continue to fall in Northern Ireland.

The good figures have been put down to a strong performance in east Belfast.

Director John Minnis said the increased level of transactions the firm had been experiencing over the last quarter was an excellent sign - and its "highest in three years".

"East Belfast in particular has been a strong growth market for us - we have sold 14% more houses in this area compared to this time last year," he said.

"More and more, we are experiencing houses going on sale and being agreed within a month.

"Whilst this certainly isn't always the case, it proves that in this price-sensitive market, if you are pitching your property at market value there are active and willing purchasers out there ready to buy."

John Minnis estate agents has offices in Holywood and Donaghadee and employs 11 staff.
