Man charged with animal cruelty after dead horse found

A man arrested following the discovery of a dead horse near Mountnorris has been charged with causing unnecessary suffering to animals.

The 54-year-old was arrested on Tuesday at a property on Tullyherron Road near Mountnorris, County Armagh.

USPCA inspectors found one dead horse and another in such poor condition it was put down. Another horse was taken away.

Police also recovered a number of cannabis plants from the property.

A 49-year-old arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis with intent to supply and preventing a meter from registering electricity supplied has been released on bail.
