Darren Clarke is runner-up in Sports Personality of Year
Tyrone golfer Darren Clarke has missed out on the title of BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
The title went to world road race champion and Tour de France green jersey winner Mark Cavendish, 26.
Clarke, 43, who won this year's Open championship at Royal St George's on his 20th attempt, came second with 42,188 votes.
It's the second time Clarke has lost out. In 2006 he finished runner-up behind Zara Phillips.
US Open winner, Rory McIlroy, 22, from Holywood, finished outside the top three in eighth place.
World 5,000m champion athlete Mo Farah was third.
