Two men charged with Downpatrick attack

Two men have been charged following an attack on four men and a woman in Downpatrick in the early hours of Tuesday.

Thirty-two-year-old Leonard McVeigh, from Bridge Street in the town, appeared in court in Bangor charged with having an offensive weapon.

Mr McVeigh was released on bail.

A 33-year-old man charged with assault, causing actual and grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon, will appear in court on 9 January.
