Three injured in Belfast and Ballymena assaults

Three people have been injured in two separate serious assaults in north Belfast and Ballymena at the weekend.

A 36-year-old woman and a man, 46, were assaulted in Ballymoney Street, Ballymena, shortly after 02:50 GMT on Sunday.

A 26-year-old man is being questioned by police after a man was assaulted in the Alliance Parade area of north Belfast in the early hours of Saturday.

The victim's condition is serious but stable.

Two men aged 30 and 25 have been arrested in relation to the Ballymena incident. Both men are currently helping police with their enquiries.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested and is helping police with inquiries about the north Belfast attack.
