Fake water service men rob woman in Newtownards

An elderly woman has been robbed at her home in Newtownards by two men posing as water board workers.

The pair called to the house in the Scrabo Road area at about 13:00 GMT on Tuesday.

After getting into the woman's home the men stole cash and left. The woman was not injured during but was left badly shaken.

Police have advised people to always ask to see photographic identification of anyone who calls to their house.

One of the robbers was described as being in his 30s, about 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins tall, of medium build, darkish curly hair and was wearing a dark navy fleece with a charcoal round neck jumper underneath and brown suede like boots.

The second man was said to be in his 40s, about 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins, of heavy build, with sandy/ginger hair. He was wearing white trainers and a grey anorak with black stripe
