Man charged after car hijacking in south Belfast

A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with a car hijacking off the Lisburn Road in south Belfast.

He is expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

The man has been charged with hijacking following the incident on 16 January.

Between 1 January and 22 January there have been 14 vehicle hijacking incidents, five of which have been attempted hijackings. Police have established a dedicated taskforce to address the issue.

A 15-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man have also been charged in connection with vehicle hijacking incidents.
