Dublin flat searched over body bag murder

Irish police investigating the murder of a woman found in a travel bag on Sunday have sealed off a flat in Dublin.

The body of the 26-year-old student from Malawi, was discovered at about 08:30 GMT at Blackhorse Avenue in the city. It is believed the bag may have been there for 13 hours.

A post mortem showed she died from asphyxiation.

Gardai are trying to establish whether the woman was killed in the flat.

A man, also from Africa, lived at the flat in Aughrim Street, about 1km from where the body was discovered.

The victim, who will not be officially named until her relatives have been informed, was living in Rathmines in South Dublin and had been in the country for the past two years.
