Work on Conway Square in Newtownards, due to get under way in the new year, has been delayed.

It is understood because of a contractual disagreement between Ards Council and the preferred tender, construction work has not begun.

Market traders who used the site on a Saturdays are angry they had to move to another site, especially now it is not clear when the development will begin.

Work to upgrade the square had been expected to last three months.

Although some of the £700,000 project is being funded by the council the vast majority of the money is being put forward by the Department of Social Development.
