A man has been remanded in custody charged with hijacking a Royal Mail van in west Belfast on Saturday.

Sean McCabe, 24, is also accused of aggravated vehicle taking causing damage, driving while unfit, dangerous driving and having no licence or insurance.

The charges relate to the seizure of a Vauxhall Combo in the Carrigart area.

The van was driven to the Stewartstown Park area where it crashed into the wall of a house.

Mr McCabe, of Horn Drive, Belfast, appeared before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Monday.

A police officer said he could connect him with all of the alleged offences.

A defence lawyer confirmed that no bail application was being made at this stage.

McCabe was remanded in custody to appear again by video-link next month.
