Woman in 60s struck during Banbridge break-in

A woman in her 60s has been injured after being struck on the head during a break-in at her Banbridge home.

At about 18:30 GMT on Wednesday, two men used a crow-bar to get into her house on the town's Old Newry Road.

When the woman who lives in the house tried to call for assistance she was hit by one of the burglars.

She suffered head injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening. It is believed the burglars escaped empty-handed.

Police have appealed for information.
