Hijacking probe leads to man's arrest in Belfast

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in Belfast over an attempted hijacking in the west of the city on 30 December.

The man, who was arrested on Wednesday, has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

The PSNI have established a dedicated taskforce to address recent car hijackings in the Belfast area.

This has led to the arrest of 10 people and four others being charged with offences related to the hi-jacking incidents.

Three of these individuals have been remanded in custody. One of those arrested has also been charged with an unrelated incident of theft.
