Girl attacked by five teenagers in Londonderry

A teenage girl has been indecently assaulted by up to five teenagers in Londonderry.

The attack took place in a grassy area near Anderson Crescent between Irish Street and Top of the Hill in the Waterside.

It happened between 20:00 GMT and 21:00 GMT on Monday.

The group of teenage boys who attacked the girl are thought to have been aged 15 or 16.

The DUP MLA William Hay said it was a "vicious attack".

"Our thoughts are with the girl and her family, they must be going through an awful lot.

"I would appeal for anyone with information to get that to the police in the hope they can bring the people responsible to justice."
