Man tied up and assaulted in north Belfast robbery

A man has been tied up and assaulted during a robbery at his north Belfast home.

Two men entered the victim's house in Downview Park West at about 04:00 GMT on Saturday.

Police said one of the men was armed with a knife. They entered the house and assaulted the man who had been asleep in bed.

They then tied him up before ransacking the house. A number of personal items were reported stolen.

The man was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries, but they are not thought to be life-threatening.

One of the robbers was described as being about 25 years old, 5ft 10ins, of slim build with short black hair and had a Belfast accent.

He was wearing a dark hooded top with blue jeans and grey shoes.

Police have appealed for information.
