Pair arrested over east Belfast hammer attack

Two men have been arrested after a man was attacked with a hammer in east Belfast.

The victim was attacked by a number of men - one of them armed with a hammer - at Isoline Street at about 11:30 GMT on Monday.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to head injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Two men, aged 27 and 24, are being questioned about the assault. Police have appealed for witnesses.
