A 40-year-old man has been charged with abduction and conspiracy to rob.

The charges relate to a kidnap and attempted robbery at a house near Crossgar, County Down, on Halloween evening last year.

Barry James Morgan of Hollybrook Avenue, Newtownabbey, is accused of kidnapping the couple who live at the house.

He is also charged with conspiracy to rob with persons unknown G4S - a security company.

The couple were held overnight during the incident and the man later ordered to go to his workplace, a cash delivery company, and remove cash.

The woman was taken to a derelict at Myrtlefield Park in south Belfast where she was kept in a cupboard.

No cash was handed over.

A detective told Downpatrick Magistrates' Court there was strong circumstantial evidence to connect the accused with the charges.

He was remanded in custody to appear by videolink on 22 March.
