Man charged after stabbing in Newcastle

A 26-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an article with a blade or point in a public place.

It follows an incident on Friday night when a 20-year-old man was stabbed several times in Newcastle, County Down.

It happened at Burrendale Park Road just before 23:00 GMT.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The man who was charged is due to appear at Downpatrick Magistrates' Court on Monday.
