A 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man in Belfast city centre.

Christopher Mackin, a 31-year-old, is thought to have been shot up to four times at College Square North on Thursday night.

A man and woman arrested on Friday remain in custody. On Sunday, police made a fresh appeal for information in relation to a car that may have been involved.

It was a silver Renault Clio, registration number ELZ 7444.

The car was seen in the Divis Street and College Square North areas at about 21:20 GMT on Thursday, the time of the murder.

The car was later found burnt out in Wyndham Street, off the Cliftonville Road in north Belfast.

It is thought the Renault Clio had been in the Belfast area for the last few weeks and sightings have been reported at a car park at Candahar Lodge on the Ormeau Road.

Police do not believe there was any paramilitary involvement in the murder.
