Derry man dies after fall from window in Jersey

The brother of a Londonderry man who died in Jersey at the weekend says he suffered the fatal injuries after he fell from a window.

Michael Stewart, 30, who was originally from the Brandywell, was found outside his flat on the island on Sunday morning.

Police in Jersey have said they are not treating the death as suspicious.

Ryan Stewart described it as a freak accident.

"He had been out with his friends the night before and he had got locked out of the flat," he said.

"He had tried to get in a window and he fell.

"He would have been there five years this month, so he was settled.

"He had a partner in Jersey and he had big plans on getting married and settling down and all the rest.

"He had his whole life ahead of him, it is over, ended in seconds."
