Man held over alleged cruelty to horses in Ballyclare

A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with alleged cruelty to horses in County Antrim.

It follows the discovery of a dead horse in a field at Millbank Road in Ballyclare on Monday. Six other horses were also found in the field. One of those subsequently had to be put down.

The man was interviewed on suspicion of cruelty to animals and failing to exercise care and supervision to prevent animals suffering unnecessarily. He has been freed on bail.
