A 29-year-old man has appeared in court accused of attempting to hijack a car in west Belfast.

A woman was confronted in the Andersonstown Road area on Monday by a man who demanded that she hand over the keys to her Ford Fiesta.

Belfast Magistrates' Court heard that the woman ran off and was not injured during the incident.

The accused, Paul David Faloon, from Quadrant Place in the city, was remanded in custody.

A police officer told the court he could connect the accused with the alleged offence.

Mr Faloon is due to appear in court again via video link on 9 May.

The charge against him is subject to review by the Public Prosecution Service.
