Man escapes arson attack on Portadown flat

A man has escaped injury in an arson attack on a flat in Portadown, County Armagh.

Police said they received a report of a fire at flat in Corcrain Avenue at about 05:25 BST on Monday.

A PSNI spokesperson said the front door of the flat was "completely destroyed" and extensive smoke damage was caused to the building's communal hallway.

The man was in the flat when the fire started but was not injured. Police have appealed for information.
