Two men have appeared in court in Belfast in connection with an attack on two men in the city centre.
In court, were Dean Alexander Nesbitt, 21, from Sandown Park in Lisburn and John Jackson, 23, from Innisfayle Gardens in Belfast.
They were charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Michael McCann and with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to his friend Anthony Gallagher.
It follows an incident in the early hours of Friday in Arthur Street.
It is alleged that as he lay unconscious, Mr McCann's head was kicked or stamped.
While 28-year-old Mr Gallagher was treated for facial injuries, Mr McCann remains in a medically induced coma in hospital.
A police officer told the court he believed he could connect both men to the charges.
The defendants were remanded in custody.
