A bus travelling from Belfast to Ballymena went on fire on the M2 motorway northbound near Antrim on Friday.

A spokeswoman for Translink said the driver saw smoke coming out of the bus and pulled over onto the hard shoulder of the road.

He got all the passengers off the bus safely. The emergency services were called and the fire was extinguished.

The incident is being investigated.

The motorway has now been reopened.
