County Down company in tax settlement

A County Down building firm has made a 85,799 euros settlement with the Republic's tax authorities.

Tinnelly Construction is based in Rostrevor and works on contracts on both sides of the border.

The firm was named in the latest official list of tax defaulters.

It paid 63,657 euros back tax with the remainder in interest and penalties following a revenue audit.

The audit had found an under-declaration of VAT and relevant contracts tax.

Relevant contracts tax concerns the payment of subcontractors in the construction industry.
