Man arrested over 1976 murder in Belfast is released

A 55-year-old man arrested in south Belfast in connection with a murder in the city 36 years ago has been released on police bail.

William Palmer, who was 55, died in hospital in June 1976, three days after he was shot in his home in Derriaghy on the outskirts of Belfast.

A 55-year-old man had been arrested on Tuesday.

He has been released on police bail pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
