Man accused of raping 15 year old girl is freed on bail

A construction worker accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in Draperstown, County Londonderry, has been released on bail.

A court heard the alleged assault happened at Moneyneany in January.

Dominic Brendan Rodgers, 28, from Mullaghmeash Road, Feeny, is alleged to have raped the girl between 3 and 15 January.

Police objected to bail on the grounds that Rodgers would fail to appear in court and the injured party was a 15-year-old girl.

Granting bail, the district judge warned Rodgers that any approach to the victim would have very profound consequences for him.

He must also report to the police in Londonderry three times a week.
