25,000 people attend multi-cultural Mela festival in Belfast
The annual multi-cultural Mela festival has taken place in Belfast.
The event, in its sixth year, features a world food market and four stages showcasing more than 20 international and local acts from the world of music, dance and visual arts.
Over 25,000 people attended the Mela at Botanic Gardens, which was hosted by ethnic arts organisation ArtsEkta.
The headline act was British Bhangra band DCS, supported by Congolese musician Niwel Tsumbu.
Festival favourite, the Jaipur Kawa Brass Band, accompanied by the acclaimed dancer Sapera Kalbelyamake, made a return this year.
Meanwhile, new to this year's event was the Maharaja tent where festival goers were treated to a host of classical arts performances and a sensory exhibition.
Visitors were able to sample Thai, Polish, Spanish and Indian cuisine at the world food market or discover local artistic talent at the community showcase area.
They could also enjoy street arts shows and even participate in traditional South Asian sports at the health and sports zone
