Cousin accused of David Mills' murder in Ballynahinch

A 30-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of David Mills.

John Stanley Foster, 30, of Carrigvale, Dundrum, appeared at Newtownards Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Mr Mills, 47, a keen sportsman and former Irish league footballer from Dundrum, died after an attack in Ballynahinch at the weekend.

Mr Foster, who is a cousin by marriage of the victim, was remanded in custody. He spoke only to confirm he understood the charge during the hearing.

He is due appear in Downpatrick court via video link later in October.
