McCann Brothers calls creditors meeting

A County Tyrone building contractor that stopped work on a number of major projects in the last month has called a creditors meeting.

McCann Brothers (Ireland), which is based in Seskinore, has called the meeting for 23 November.

The company had been working on the new Tyrone GAA complex at Garvaghey but ceased work last month.

A spokesman for the Tyrone County Board told the Ulster Herald newspaper that they are confident the project will still be completed around Christmas.

McCann's had also been working on a new school building for Loreto Convent in Kilkenny city but work has stopped there too, with subcontractors saying they have not been paid.

McCann's were the main contractors for the Lough Erne hotel and also did work for the Housing Executive.

The firm employs around 40 people.
