Driver of street sweeper lorry arrested after crash

A 40-year-old man has been arrested after the street sweeper lorry he was driving crashed into several vehicles on the outskirts of south Belfast.

It is understood the lorry was in collision with a set of traffic lights, a telegraph pole and several cars before it crashed into a telephone box.

It happened at about 16:30 GMT on the Saintfield Road.

The driver was treated at the scene by ambulance staff. He was then arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

A police spokesperson said the man has been bailed pending further enquiries.
