Man arrested after woman falls from fourth floor flat in Belfast

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman fell from the fourth floor of a building in west Belfast.

Police were called when the 32-year-old woman fell from a window of Spring Meadow flats complex, off the Springfield Road, at about 04:50 GMT.

She was taken to hospital for treatment for serious chest and leg injuries.

The man was also detained on suspicion of assault on police and resisting police.

BBC reporter Mervyn Jess said people in the area described seeing a woman lying on the ground outside the building, surrounded by clothes that appeared to have been thrown out of the fourth floor flat window.

The PSNI has appealed for witnesses to contact them.
