Belfast police investigate hijacking attempts

Police in Belfast are investigating two attempted hijackings in the south of the city.

One took place in Ava Street at 23:15 GMT on Saturday. A masked man with a suspected gun ordered a woman out of her car. She managed to drive off.

At 23:30 GMT police received a report that two men had tried to order another woman's car on Royal Avenue. She also managed to drive away.

Police have said the incidents are not linked and appealed for information.
