Rioters 'adding years to sentences'

Help

PSNI Chief Constable Matt Baggott has told those involved in rioting not to make things worse for themselves because "the knock on the door is coming".

His statement follows another weekend of disorder after some union flag protests.

Mr Baggott said the violence "is intense, it is serious, but it has been contained".

He warned that the "criminal justice strategy will now continue".

"I don't want people out on the streets adding years to the sentences that will inevitably follow those taking serious disorder out on the streets," he said.
