A 40-year-old Bangor man has appeared in court charged with the murder of 31-year-old Stephen Davidson in the town.

Mr Davidson's body was found at his home on the Ballyholme Road on Sunday 10 February. Police said he had died as a result of a violent struggle.

A solicitor for Paul Stephen Bustard, of Avonlea Park, said he denied the murder and had acted in self defence.

He was also charged with possession of and conspiracy to supply cocaine and threatening to destroy property.

Mr Bustard was remanded in custody to appear again at Newtownards Magistrates Court on 19 February.

Mr Davidson was found dead in the living-room of his house by a relative last Sunday night.

He was last seen alive on the Newtownards Road in Bangor at about 21:30 GMT on the previous night.

A 30-year-old woman was previously charged in connection with the killing.

She was charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice, assisting offenders and having a Class A drug with intent to supply.
