Guns and vehicles seized in Cloughoge, south Armagh

Two guns and a number of vehicles have been seized by police in south Armagh.

They were recovered after a planned search of a yard on the Mountain Road in Cloughoge on Wednesday.

Two vehicles, which are believed to have been stolen, were recovered and two quads were seized. The two guns have been taken away for forensic examination.

Chief Inspector Davy Beck said the hard work of officers resulted in dangerous weapons being taken out of circulation.

"This search and the seizure of vehicles should send a clear message that there is no hiding place for criminals in Newry and Mourne," he said.

"I would like to thank the local community for their support and patience during this operation. This again demonstrates how much more successful we are in tackling crime when we work together."
