Tickets for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Londonderry were snapped up in under an hour on Wednesday morning.

All 37,500 tickets have now gone. Twelve and a half thousand tickets were available for each day.

The event will take place at Ebrington over the Spring bank holiday weekend in May.

While the full line-up is yet to be announced Olly Murs and Two Door Cinema Club are among the acts already confirmed.

Ben Cooper, Controller BBC Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra said: "It's great to see the enthusiasm and excitement in the city for BBC Radio 1's biggest event of the year.

"We will be bringing some of the biggest DJs and artists in the world and demand has been huge, so I'm sorry if you didn't get a ticket. You will though be able to catch all the action on Radio 1, BBC Three, on mobile and our website."

Shortly after tickets were released some appeared on internet auction sites.

The event is being staged with the co-operation and support of Derry City Council.

As with previous Big Weekends, local residents were given preference for tickets: 45% of the available tickets were reserved for those living within the Derry City Council area; 45% were reserved for those resident in the rest of Northern Ireland; with the remaining 10% for other audiences across the UK and those in the Republic of Ireland.
