Dorian Tiranesc jailed over false identity documents
A Romanian man who was caught with false identity documents has been jailed for 10 months at Londonderry Crown Court.
Dorian Doinel Tiranesc, 26, was arrested by the police following a raid at his Kular Court flat in William Street on 16 January last year.
Tiranesc was found to have two false Romanian driving licences and two false Romanian ID documents.
He was later convicted of the four false document offences by a jury.
Judge Philip Babington said Tiranesc has previous criminal convictions for larceny, robbery and violent offences in Romania and France.
There is also an outstanding warrant for his arrest from the Republic of Ireland.
The judge said Tiranesc was currently in custody on a European arrest warrant and the Romanian authorities have requested his extradition.
Tiranesc, who maintains his innocence, has been assessed as being a high-risk offender.
