Men deny New Year's Day sexual assault charges

Two men from Sudan and Poland have denied charges of sexually assaulting the same woman on New Year's Day.

Sudanese national, 25-year-old Ishak Dokkan, and Tomasz Wnek, 38, from Poland, both pleaded not guilty at Belfast Crown Court.

Both Mr Dokkan, with an address at a city centre hostel, and Mr Wnek, whose address was given as c/o Maghaberry prison, were remanded into custody.

Mr Wnek also denied further charges of attempted rape and sexual assault.

Their trial is due to start in November.

An earlier court hearing was told the woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in a house in south Belfast in the early hours of New Year's Day this year.
