Showgrounds alert A pipe bomb was found in the stadium car park

Police have appealed for information after a pipe bomb was found in the car park of a sports stadium in County Antrim.

Ballymena Showgrounds was evacuated during stock car racing on Friday night. About 500 spectators were at the event, which then had to be cancelled.

The pipe bomb was made safe by Army bomb disposal experts.

Police want anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact Ballymena CID on 0845 600 8000.
