Teenager is stable after Newry stabbing

A 19-year-old man who was left critically ill after he was stabbed in Newry, County Down, is now in a stable condition in hospital.

He was attacked in Edward Street, just before 21:00 BST on Friday.

The teenager was initially taken to Daisy Hill Hospital in the city, but was later transferred to Craigavon Area Hospital in County Armagh.

Police are continuing to question a 24-year-old man about the attack.
